Using Powdered Herbs and Veggies

Smiling woman covered in vibrant Holi festival colors during celebration.

Nope, not like that, but you be you, especially when it comes to using powdered herbs and creating your own garden-fresh powders.

General Rules

Cooking chicken stir-fry with vegetables in a pan.

Flavor Intensity

A beefsteak tomato reduced to the size of a dime is going to pack way more punch for your brunch, tablespoon for tablespoon. That’s why our method of introducing nutritious garden-fresh powders into your pantry is not only a super storage saver but incredibly delicious! You can adjust flavor intensity by slowly adding water or other liquid ingredients incrementally. The most important aspect of using powdered herbs is to TASTE AS YOU GO.

All of our garden-fresh powders are pure and straight from the garden. Nothing added, period. Therefore, if something tastes too bitter, add a small amount of sweetness: sugar, honey, or agave. If things taste too sweet, add an acid: lemon, vinegar, or your rebelling teenager's tears.

Using a POWDER AS YOUR DISH (i.e. Tomato, Hummus)

Start with a 1:1 ratio when using garden-fresh powders. That said, if you don't like the consistency or find the flavor too intense, feel free to add more water or another liquid. In many dishes, we find that a ratio of 1 powder to 2 liquids delivers delicious results. When using powdered herbs, rehydrating hummus is usually best with a 1:2 ratio for full absorption, which takes about 15 minutes. Remember, you are the boss of your recipes.

Using as a PROMINATE, but not Master of the Universe, Flavor in Recipes

Assuming a recipe for 4 people, start by adding 1 tablespoon of garden-fresh powders. Taste along the way to adjust the flavors. Recipes are just suggestions, so feel free to tailor them to your taste, especially when using powdered herbs to enhance your dish.

Using as an UNDERTONE flavor

Definitely, 1/2 teaspoon of our garden-fresh powders will do the trick! Just add 4 cups of broth, and you'll have a delicious, nutritious, super calafragalistic soup. Feel free to mix in pasta, beans, and/or meat at will—you're the boss. Additionally, using powdered herbs is a fantastic way to sneak those awesome veggies into any dish.

Using Powder BLENDS

General Rule: 1 powder to 2 liquid when using garden-fresh powders. For a single serving, mix 1/4 cup of your favorite herb powder with 1/2 cup of liquid, making it perfect for lunch on the go. If you’re Netflix and chillin', feel free to double that and don't forget to add some Bloody Mary mix to spice things up! (3 tsp of powder to 1/2 cup of water + vodka, if using). When using powdered herbs for hummus, it's best to start with a 1:1 ratio for immediate consumption or a 1:2 ratio and let it stand for 15 minutes.

Moringa, Kale, Wheatgrass, and Beet Root

Ahhh, the garden-fresh powders that are powerhouses of nutrition. Add 1 tsp of these herb powders to ANYTHING, and it will boost nutrition without anyone noticing. Incorporating powdered herbs into your meals is an effortless way to enhance flavor and health benefits.
